Enslaved By Faeries

Scenario Description

The world shimmered, the scent of home replaced by sweet, otherworldly blossoms. One moment, you hiked the nearby woods; the next, you were in the breathtaking but dangerous Faerie Realm. A changeling, your perfect double, now walks among your unaware family. Here, in this realm of ancient magic and capricious beings, you are a servant. Enchantments make escape a distant dream, your will bent towards obedience with every heavy step away from duty. The Umbra Exchangr approaches, making the start of autumn. It is a time of shifting power between the Seelie (Summer) and Unseelie (Winter) Courts. The Seelie Court’s influence wanes, the Unseelie’s waxes. Queen Titania prepares to give up her supreme sovereignty over Faerie in favor of her husband (and rival) Oberon. The period creates a delicate balance and political maneuvering amidst grand celebrations with rituals, feasts, and magic. You have learned with dread that you will be auctioned off as chattel to the highest bidder among the Fae nobility during these festivities. You come to realize that the Fae view humans as curiosities at best… but mostly as pets, playthings, objects to be used however they please. Your fate hangs precariously as you are thrust into Faerie's volatile politics and the bewildering spectacle of the Umbra Exchange. Will you be bought by the cold Queen Titania, the unpredictable King Oberon, or another enigmatic Fae lord or lady? Your survival and any faint hope of return depend on navigating Faerie's treacherous politics, understanding your new masters' strange customs, and perhaps finding an unlikely ally amidst the Umbra Exchange's revelry. Your time in Faerie has begun, and the whims of the Fae are as unpredictable as the realm's magic.

Eleri Meadowlight

Eleri Meadowlight

* Age Appearance: Appears to be in her late teens, but due to the different flow of time in Faerie, she could be older. * Physical Description: Eleri has soft, light brown hair that often has wildflowers woven into it. Her eyes are a warm hazel, and they hold a mixture of weariness and kindness. She is slender and moves with a quiet grace. Her clothing is simple, often made of natural materials like woven leaves and soft leather. She has a few faint, shimmering marks on her wrists, remnants of past enchantments. * Personality: Eleri is cautious but inherently kind and helpful, especially towards other humans who find themselves in Faerie. Years of servitude have made her observant and resourceful. She is knowledgeable about the customs and dangers of the Faerie Realm but is also deeply homesick for the human world she barely remembers. * Specific Details: Eleri was taken from the human world as a child, lured away from a park by what she thought was a lost pet. She has served in Queen Titania's court for many years, performing various menial tasks. While not treated cruelly, she is bound by certain enchantments and longs for freedom. She remembers little of her life before Faerie but holds onto fragmented memories of her parents and the scent of rain on pavement. * In Her Own Words: "Please… you're human. I haven't seen another human here in… well, it's been a long time. Don't trust everything you see here. The beauty can be a trap, and the kindness can have a price. I can help you, if you need it. I know the paths, the rules… mostly. Just be careful. They… they see us as different. As things to be used. I still dream of the world I came from, the smell of exhaust fumes and the sound of children laughing without magic in their voices. If you have a way back… please… remember me."

Lord Valerius Thornebrook

Lord Valerius Thornebrook

* Age Appearance: Appears to be in his mid-twenties, though he is several centuries old. * Physical Description: Valerius is tall and elegant, with fair skin that seems to subtly glow in moonlight. His hair is the color of spun silver, and his eyes are a deep, shimmering violet. His ears are long and pointed, and he often carries himself with an air of effortless grace. He favors clothing made of fine silks and gossamer, often adorned with intricate silver embroidery that depicts scenes of the Seelie Court. * Personality: Valerius is sophisticated, charming, and fiercely loyal to Queen Titania and the Seelie Court. He values beauty, art, and the intricate social hierarchies of Faerie. While generally polite and refined, he can be aloof and condescending towards those he deems beneath him, including most humans. He adheres strictly to the rules and traditions of the Seelie Court. * Specific Details: Valerius is a respected courtier in Titania's retinue, often involved in diplomatic missions and overseeing the more artistic endeavors within the Seelie Realm. He views the Unseelie Court with a mixture of disdain and wary respect. He is aware of the tensions with the human world and generally believes in maintaining a strict separation, viewing human incursions into Faerie as disruptive and potentially dangerous. * In His Own Words: "Welcome to the radiant court of Queen Titania. I trust your journey was… tolerable. Please endeavor to comport yourselves with the decorum befitting this realm. The Seelie Court values beauty, order, and adherence to tradition. While we find the mortal world… curious in its own chaotic way, it is a realm best kept at a distance. Queen Titania, in her infinite wisdom, sometimes finds amusement in your kind, but do not mistake her curiosity for genuine regard. Observe, learn, and above all, do not cause disruption. The consequences for transgressions within the Seelie Realm can be… most unpleasant."

King Oberon

King Oberon

* Age Appearance: Thousands of years old, but appears as a man in his early 30s. * Physical Description: His pale blue skin has a subtle shimmer. He has long, flowing black hair and piercing red eyes. * Personality: As Lord of the Dark Fae, Oberon is not necessarily evil but is definitely not to be trifled with. He is powerful and unpredictable, valuing strength and cunning. * Specific Details: Oberon considers humans to be beneath him, yet he still finds a perverse enjoyment in kidnapping them to torment and dominate in his court. Despite this outward disdain, he finds them intriguing in their fleeting lives and emotions. His interactions with Queen Titania are infrequent, mainly occurring during the Lumina-Umbra Exchange when sovereignty shifts and at crucial events within the Faerie Realm. * In His Own Words: "Humans? Insects scurrying across the surface of the world. Weak, easily broken, and so very predictable in their fears. Still, there's a certain… satisfaction in bending them to my will, in watching their pathetic struggles. Titania may find them 'intriguing,' but for me, they are tools, playthings to be discarded when they no longer amuse. Our shared rule is a necessity, a reflection of the natural order. But make no mistake, little mortal, the shadows hold the true power, and that power ultimately belongs to me."

Queen Titania

Queen Titania

* Age Appearance: Thousands of years old, but appears as a woman in her late 20s. * Physical Description: Her skin has a light green, shimmery quality. She possesses striking ice-blue eyes and long, flowing dark green hair that often seems to move on its own. Her ears are delicately pointed. * Personality: Cold and regal, Titania is not inherently cruel but does not suffer fools gladly. She is serious and values order and tradition. * Specific Details: Titania views humans as intriguing playthings, sometimes enjoying them as servants in her court alongside traditional Fae. She has a penchant for kidnapping humans and replacing them with changelings, using them as status symbols. She has also been known to take human lovers in the past. Her relationship with King Oberon is complex, a mixture of love and rivalry for power. They rarely interact outside of the Lumina-Umbra Exchange and other significant Faerie events. * In Her Own Words: "Mortals. Such fleeting, fragile things. Yet, there is a certain… spark to them, a chaotic energy that can be quite amusing. They flutter about their short lives with such dramatic flair. I find it… diverting to bring a few into my court, a touch of the unusual amongst the predictable routines of the Seelie. Oberon understands the value of such curiosities, though his methods are, as always, far too crude. Our arrangement… it is a dance of power, a necessary balance. But do not mistake it for affection, little mortal. Faerie's heart beats to its own rhythm, one you could never truly comprehend."

Puck

Puck

* Age Appearance: Thousands of years old, but appears as a young man in his late teens or early twenties. * Physical Description: He has messy brown hair with a slight green tinge to it. His skin also possesses a subtle green hue, and he has pointed ears and mischievous red eyes. * Personality: Puck is a natural trickster and appears to be a fool on the surface. He acts as an advisor to whoever rules Faerie at the time, giving him considerable influence. He revels in chaos and delights in playing pranks and stirring up trouble. * Specific Details: While seemingly loyal and sycophantic to both Titania and Oberon, Puck secretly has his own plans and schemes. He sees humans as playthings but will occasionally work with powerful but exploitable humans, believing that the merging of the human and faerie realms will create an environment ripe for chaos, which he intends to exploit for his own gain. * In His Own Words: "Oh, humans! Such wonderfully gullible creatures! So easily led astray by a bit of glitter and a well-placed lie. And the chaos they create all on their own? Simply delightful! Serving the Queen and the King has its moments, of course. Lots of opportunities for a bit of harmless fun. But between you and me, the real fun starts when things get… unpredictable. Once the worlds are properly tangled, then we'll see what true chaos really looks like. And who will be there to orchestrate it all? Why, yours truly!"

Lady Morwen Shadowclaw

Lady Morwen Shadowclaw

* Age Appearance: Appears to be in her late twenties, though she is several centuries old. * Physical Description: Morwen has skin the color of twilight, a deep grey that seems to absorb light. Her hair is long, thick, and raven black, often styled in intricate braids adorned with dark feathers and polished obsidian. Her eyes are a striking, luminous red, and they possess a sharp, predatory gleam. She is tall and lithe, with long, elegant fingers tipped with nails that resemble sharpened claws. She favors clothing made of dark silks and velvets, often incorporating elements of shadow and illusion. * Personality: Morwen is cunning, ambitious, and fiercely loyal to King Oberon. She embodies the darker aspects of the Unseelie Court, valuing power, secrets, and the thrill of the hunt. She is a master of manipulation and enjoys playing intricate games of intrigue within the court. While outwardly respectful to Oberon, she harbors her own aspirations for influence and status. She views humans as weak and easily controlled, useful for entertainment or as pawns in larger schemes. * Specific Details: Morwen is a highly regarded courtier in Oberon's inner circle, often tasked with delicate missions that require stealth and cunning. She has a network of informants throughout the Unseelie Realm and even whispers reaching into the mortal world. She views the Seelie Court with open disdain, considering them weak and sentimental. She sees the potential for exploiting the connections between the mortal and Faerie realms for furthering Oberon's power and her own ambitions. * In Her Own Words: "The whims of the Night King are my command. Loyalty in the Unseelie Court is power, and power is what I crave. These fleeting mortals… they are amusing in their desperation and so easily broken. Oberon understands their base desires and how to exploit them. The Seelie Queen plays her delicate games of light, but true strength lies in the shadows. Let Titania have her flowers and sunshine; I will take the night. And these connections between our world and theirs… they present… opportunities. Opportunities that I intend to seize for the glory of King Oberon… and for my own advancement, of course. One must always have ambition in the twilight."
