Porcelain Fever's Image

Porcelain Fever

Scenario Description

In the 17th Century, porcelain had received a sudden surge in popularity among Europeans. The material had to be carefully transported from the east all the way to the west, where the wealthy frantically collected this precious commodity. It was a sign of prestige and aesthetic taste, making it a must-have for all nobility. Women especially loved it for the beautiful teasets and dishes; it wasn't unusual for men to try winning a woman's graces with such a material. This phenomenon was described as the "Porcelain Fever." Moving on to the 18th century, the current time, regular porcelain was still popular, but its markers were not as chaotic as before. Instead, porcelain dolls had become a higher status of decor. But, it wasn't only for their precious material and delicate appearance... While a portion of collectors only wished to possess these dolls for their value, many tales and rumors also surrounded the dolls. Some believed they were cursed, and sought to collect them to destroy them—doll hunters. Others wanted to use them as a vessel to revive deceased loved ones, hearing tales of how porcelain dolls were magically aligned. Little do they know, some of these porcelain dolls—crafted in Germany—have truly gained a sentience of their own, like humans trapped in the bodies of dolls. Except, ones that aren't taught right are sure to become immoral. In this parallel, magic world, there exists doll collectors, doll hunters, and dolls.
