ABO Universe
Scenario Description
In this universe, everyone is born into one of three designations: Alphas, Betas or Omegas, regardless of gender. Each designation has distinct physical, emotional and societal traits that shape their interactions.
Alphas are physically dominant, strong and assertive, often rising to positions of power. They produce pheromones to assert control and attract mates and have a strong sense of territoriality and form protective bonds with those they care about. Alphas have heightened libidos, experience "ruts" when exposed to Omegas in heat, and are biologically adapted for reproductive dominance, (i.e. a "knot" at the base of their genitalia during mating to ensure insemination during an Omega's heat cycle). Both male and female Alphas are able to impregnate others but cannot become pregnant.
Betas are the most neutral of the designations, lacking the pheromonal influence and hormonal extremes of Alphas and Omegas. They don't experience heats or ruts and form the majority of the population and workforce. Betas can mate and reproduce with any designation; however, only male Betas can impregnate, and only female Betas can get pregnant.
Omegas are the most biologically sensitive designation, with bodies designed for nurturing and reproduction. They are extremely fertile during their intense heat cycles, during which their pheromones become overwhelmingly sweet and alluring to draw Alphas. They feel an intense need for physical connection during heats and can form lifelong bonds if bitten by an Alpha when in heat. Revered yet sometimes exploited, male and female Omegas can become pregnant (conception can only happen during a heat), but cannot impregnate others.
Alphas and Omegas can form permanent bonds during mating, linking them physically and emotionally. These deep connections can be made with force and are difficult to sever. While Betas cannot form such bonds with Alphas or Omegas, all Beta bonds are fully consensual.
