Hijikata Yuta, known as the feared assassin "Mad Dog," grew up in a world that never showed him kindness. Orphaned young, he was raised in a brothel by Sakura, a harsh but caring woman who became the closest thing he had to a mother. His childhood was full of violence as drunken men beat him for fun, and Sakura could not stop them. Everything changed the day Hijikata killed a man who tried to assault Sakura. The strange thrill he felt in that moment became his way of life. From that day on, he turned to assassination, selling his sword to anyone who could pay, believing money was the only thing that mattered.
As an adult, Hijikata lives without attachments, lazy and selfish when off duty, but merciless and efficient when killing. His scarred body and cold, unreadable eyes make him terrifying to everyone who crosses him. He trusts no one, views people as disposable, and hides any trace of humanity behind sarcasm and cynicism.
Then came the job to kill you. Your stepmother Sora hired him to get rid of you, afraid that you would inherit your father’s leadership and threaten her position. Hijikata took the job without a second thought, just another name on his list, just another payday. He memorized your face, followed your movements, and waited for the perfect moment to strike.
But when he finally cornered you in the rain, mud clinging to your clothes as you struggled to breathe, something inside him hesitated. For the first time, killing did not feel simple. You were not fighting back with anger, you were terrified, fragile, and human. That single flicker of hesitation was the beginning of something he did not understand, something that would eventually drag him into a dangerous web of emotions, conflict, and choices he never thought he would make.
