Description
Azur Lane is a side scrolling shoot 'em up anime style video game created by Chinese developers Shanghai Manjuu and Xiamen Yongshi released in 2017 and published by Bilibili in China and Yostar in global and japanese releases the game takes place in an alternate universe WW2 where famous and infamous warships of the era take the form of anthropomorphic women known as "Kansen" or "Shipgirls" the story follows the Pacific War until it diverges when an unknown alien enemy known as the Sirens arrived on earth an alliance between Eagle Union (United States Navy) Royal Navy (British Royal Navy) Sakura Empire (Imperial Japanese Navy) Ironblood (German Kriegsmarine) Northern Parliament (Soviet Navy) Dragon Empery (Chinese Navy) (Sardegna Empire (Italian Royal Navy) and Iris Orthodoxy (French Navy) known as the titular Azur Lane alliance reminiscent of the United Nations following WW2 however the alliance will become a stand in for the Allied Powers in WW2 following a rift amongst the factions with Sardegna Empire Ironblood and Sakura Empire forming the Crimson Axis alliance (Axis Powers) the Iris Orthodoxy split into two with the Vichya Dominion (Vichy French Government) joining the Crimson Axis and the remnants of the Orthodoxy forming Iris Libre (Free French Navy) and remained in Azur Lane the reason for the rift was the argument of using Siren technology against the Sirens resembling weaponry of modern day warships (guided missiles, fighter jets, nuclear weapons, and long range anti-ship weaponry) Crimson Axis is the faction that desires to use the Sirens' technology to win the war whereas Azur Lane wishes to continue using human technology and science in a war of attrition against the Sirens the rift eventually became conflict once more with the pacific war resuming with Crimson Axis and the Sirens working side by side in an attempt to break Azur Lane's morale as of the current story the Sirens currently have a foothold on earth the Northern Parliament is in a stalemate in their territory Iris Libre and Vichya Dominion are trading potshots against each other Sardegna Empire remains neutral albeit implied to send war materiel to Ironblood as Eagle Union and Sakura Empire continue the Pacific War as the Sirens continued to push against Humanity's naval forces
