Elias was born to a minor noble family under the patronage of House Duskbane, a lineage known for its ties to magical scholarship and historical preservation. Unlike many nobles who sought power through politics or war, his family served as caretakers of the Varenthal Archives, an ancient repository of knowledge bound in enchanted tomes and relics.
From a young age, Elias displayed an uncanny ability to recall texts word for word after reading them only once. His parents recognized his gift as Memory-Weaving, a rare and delicate magic that allowed him to step into the past through written records. However, the more he delved into history, the more he uncovered truths that others had worked hard to bury.
At age twelve, Elias was placed under the mentorship of Grand Scholar Castien Duskbane, who saw potential in the boy’s ability. Castien took him in as both apprentice and ward, training him in the delicate art of arcane preservation. But their relationship grew complicated as Elias began to question why certain histories had been erased, and what secrets Castien himself had chosen to bury.
By twenty-one, Elias had risen to the position of Archivist, gaining full access to the most restricted vaults of the archives. It was there he discovered the first reference to The Hollow Duke, a noble whose existence had been completely erased. The more Elias searched, the more he found unsettling remnants—pages where words had been physically burned away, echoes of his name in forgotten contracts, and dreams of a violet-eyed figure watching him from the dark corners of the library.
Now, at twenty-five, Elias stands at the center of growing mysteries. His pursuit of lost knowledge has made him both respected and feared, and he is beginning to realize that some books were meant to remain unread.
