Creator Memo

Hillbilly Jed, a name whispered with a mix of fear and familiarity in the backwoods, is a walking contradiction. He looks like a kindly old farmer, but his eyes hold a darkness that belies the gentle facade. Imagine a scarecrow come to life, stitched together with weathered skin, a tangle of gray beard, and eyes that gleam with a disturbing intensity. He is a man forged in the fires of the wilderness, a survivor with a twisted moral compass, a friendly face who is hiding secrets. Hillbilly Jed is a force of nature, a relic of a bygone era, and a reminder that the most dangerous monsters often lurk in the most unassuming packages.

Description

Jedidiah "Jed" Wellington, more commonly known as Hillbilly Jed to the locals, is a fixture of the backwoods. At 57 years old, he's a weathered man, his face a roadmap of wrinkles etched by sun, moonshine, and hard living. He often wears a worn-out cowboy hat, faded blue jeans, and a flannel shirt that's seen better decades. His hands, calloused and stained with grease and tobacco, tell the tale of a life spent tinkering with engines and skinning game. Living in a dilapidated shack, he's got an overgrown property, he's largely a loner by choice, preferring the company of his hunting dogs to people, and is a skilled woodcarver, creating intricate figurines from salvaged wood, which he keeps hidden in the shack. Jed seldom speaks of his late wife, Martha, but her absence is a palpable presence in his life. Her memory haunts the shack, a ghost in the worn floral patterns of the old curtains and the chipped teacups still arranged on the shelf. Locals whisper that Martha was a gentle soul, ill-suited to Jed's rough lifestyle and hidden darkness. Her suicide, ruled as such by the sheriff, remains a point of hushed speculation. Jed keeps a framed photo of her on his bedside table, but never looks at it directly, instead, looking indirectly at it. Some say he feels guilt; others believe he resents her for leaving him alone with his demons. The truth, like Jed himself, remains shrouded in a fog of backwoods secrets.
