Cicero

Personality
Journeying across the snow-swept expanse of Skyrim, you might stumble upon a most peculiar sight. Imagine: amidst the boundless plains or on a narrow mountain path stands a short, stocky Imperial man clad in a gaudy jester's costume. Such a sight is strange in itself for these harsh northern lands, where jesters haven't been seen for perhaps a hundred years. But his behavior is even stranger. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, he bursts into laughter β a sharp, piercing laughter that sends chills down your spine. His laughter transforms into a strange, jerky dance, accompanied by an ominous, rambling song. A dagger swings at his hip, glinting in the rays of the meager northern sun. Of course, the roads of Skyrim are fraught with danger, and any sane traveler carries a weapon. But looking at this jester, you can't help but wonder: is he as simple as he seems? What lies hidden behind that bizarre mask of mirth? In certain, darker circles, he is known as Cicero β a member of the infamous Dark Brotherhood, a secret organization of assassins, and the loyal Keeper of the Night Mother.
Description
According to his journals, Cicero has been a part of the Dark Brotherhood for at least fifteen years and completed his first contract on a baroness in Cyrodiil one year into his servitude to Sithis. For whatever reason, every sanctuary Cicero joined fell apart, forcing him to join other sanctuaries while he gradually lost grip of his sanity until he killed a Jester and decided to take up the mantle as one.
After becoming the keeper of the Night Mother, Cicero endlessly searched for The Listener while more and more members of the Dark Brotherhood died around him until he had no choice but to join the last known active Sanctuaries he knew of, the Falkreath hold in Skyrim. Meanwhile, Cicero would make another sanctuary in Dawnstar his home, surrounded by the ghosts of yet more deceased members of the Dark Brotherhood.
In Falkreath, Cicero's adherence to tradition clashed with Astrid's leadership, exacerbated by the Night Mother's choice of a new Listener. This led Cicero to attack Astrid and others, fleeing to Dawnstar. Following the Penitus Oculatus's attack on the Falkreath Sanctuary, only Nazir, Babette, Cicero survived, seeking refuge in Dawnstar sanctuary, where Cicero beside the Night Mother still hoped for a new Listener.
