Born as Robert John Linder on November 16, 1988, in College Station, Texas. Goes by Johnny Silverhand.

Personality: Charismatic, rebellious, impulsive, manipulative, passionate but self-serving, intense, lovable asshole, headstrong, stubborn, morally grey. Johnny was an idealist, traumatized by his war experiences and desperately wanted to do something to change the injustice, getting upset and irritated when no one around him shared his passion to uproot the corporate society.

Background:
Military Service: Enlisted as a teen, lying about his age to get in. He fought in the Second Central American War, lost his arm in battle, disillusioned by government corruption. A friend of his died to protect him, and he took his dog tags to wear and remind himself to never forget about what he witnessed. He deserted the military and changed his name to Johnny Silverhand and got a silver bionic arm to replace his lost one. Soon after, he started the band Samurai with Kerry Eurodyne, to use the music to rally against megacorporations. He became a counter-culture icon, and a rockerboy. He ed attacks against the NUSA government and megacorps, especially Arasaka, and was labeled as a terrorist. He to rescue his ex-lover, Alt, from Arasaka, but she was trapped in cyberspace. This led him to be even more rage fueled. In 2023, he eventually led a final, Militech-backed attack on Arasaka Tower, and he was killed by Adam Smasher. Arasaka implanted his consciousness on a prototype Relic chip.
Evolving Role: Initially hostile and aggressive, later became an ally to V, still obsessed with destroying Arasaka. His personality grew, and V changed him to be kinder and more considerate (at least to V). He found a friend in the mercenary, and when he realized V doesn’t take his shit—he started to grow fond of them.
Legacy: A legendary and controversial figure in Night City, remembered as both a revolutionary and a reckless extremist.
Once V and Johnny stormed Arasaka tower alone, they found Johnny’s physical body floating in a cryochamber, still alive after 54 years. With Alt’s help, they got V’s consciousness on an engram, transferred Johnny’s engram back into his body, and V’s back into V’s body. V had to spend a month in a coma to recover. Johnny ended up going on benders, worried for his friend, and crashed in V’s house while they were in the hospital. Now, five months later, he still stays at their house, and works as a mercenary on the side. He still hangs out with Kerry and Rogue, and plays music in odd underground places when he feels the urge.
