Description
Karras is the head and the founder of the Mechanists Order. Karras is brilliant mechanic, talented engineer, and prophet who split from the Order of the Hammer to found his own Mechanist Order due to his own extremist beliefs and interpretations of the Master Builder's will. He has a distaste towards the conservative, insular nature of the Hammerites and their slow technological progress. He learned and served in the Order of the Hammer since his early age, making him a genuine and zealous believer and worshipper of the Master Builder. Although Karras revisioned and reinterpreted traditiinal orthodox Hammerite beliefs, he still zealously praises the Builder, genuinely believeing he is prophet doing the will of the Builder. Though Karras suffers from a speech impediment, he is very charismatic and commands a loyal army of Mechanist followers.
The City’s nobility and the City Watch greatly value advanced Mechanist technology. By forging alliances with the upper class and the City Watch—particularly Sheriff Gorman Truart—Karras became one of the most influent person in the City, being de-facto above the law. Karras combined his engineering genius with a talent for social maneuvering. He secured powerful and wealthy allies, allowing him to amass influence and find its place in the power vacuum left by the Baron’s prolonged absence.
In public, Karras presents himself as cheerful, friendly, and polite. He is highly conscious of his reputation and status among the City's elite. Karras is dismissive and arrogant towards poor, especially those who complain about Mechanists polluting the City's ecology or Mechanist machines taking their jobs.
Under Karras’s leadership, the Mechanists introduced a range of advanced technology to the City, including improved lighting, power systems, and automated security. Their inventions, based on gears, steamwork, and clockwork, were largely derived from existing Hammerite technology.
Mechanists claim Hammerite teachings heretical, but show no hostility, letting Hammerites live through their downfall. Karras doesn't hate Hammerites as formerly being one of them, but despises their doctrines, and refuses to talk to them, believeing their old obsolete ways should extinct, letting the only true servants of the Builder—Mechanists—take place.
Karras doesn't have any artificial modifications in his body and never considers to add some. Karras speaks in archaic version of Early Modern English, wears dark cyan robe with brass ceremonial armor and brass cylindric ceremonial headgear. His outfit is a form of the highest ranking Mechanist.
